The implant is the part of a cochlear implant system that stays with you for many years, while audio processors can be upgraded as technology moves on. SYNCHRONY 2 is MED-EL’s current implant, built to give the closest to natural hearing and to stay ready for future upgrades.

Built around your cochlea

Every cochlea is different. With SYNCHRONY 2, the surgeon chooses the electrode array that best fits your inner ear, and your audiologist can tailor the fitting to your anatomy. MED-EL’s long, flexible electrodes are designed to cover the whole cochlea and to protect its delicate structures, which helps preserve any natural hearing you still have.

MRI without surgery

Most people will need an MRI scan at some point in their lives. SYNCHRONY 2 is MR Conditional at up to 3.0 Tesla with the magnet left in place, unless it has to be removed for diagnostic reasons. Its magnet turns to line up with the scanner’s field, so there is no painful pulling, and MED-EL covers its cochlear implants with a lifelong MRI guarantee.

Reliable by design

Every MED-EL implant is made at the company’s headquarters in Austria. According to MED-EL’s reliability data, SYNCHRONY 2 has an overall cumulative survival rate of 99.88% within 6 years.
